The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Biotechnology at UC develops your existing knowledge of biotechnology application across industrial, agricultural, medical, and environmental contexts.
By integrating biotechnology with ethics and cultural perspectives you will learn how to contribute responsibly to biotechnology development and practice, enabling you to advance your career in biotech, or continue into further study with the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Biotechnology or Master of Applied Biotechnology at UC.
To apply for the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Biotechnology, you will need to have previously completed a university bachelor’s degree in an area relevant to Biotechnology or other approved subjects (or other equivalent qualifications).

The PGCertAppBiotech is made up of a total 60 points comprising 30 points from compulsory courses and the remaining 30 points from elective courses.
Beginning in February or July, the Certificate will take 6 months of full-time study to complete, or up to 4 years part-time.

To complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Biotechnology, you must complete 60 points including:
30 points from these compulsory courses:
AND 30 points from these elective courses.

2028 tuition fee estimate: $42,200 (120 points)
UC also offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Biotechnology and a Master of Applied Biotechnology.
There are also other postgraduate degrees at UC which allow you to specialise in related subjects such as Biotechnology or Biological Sciences up to PhD level.
Graduates of the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Biotechnology will be prepared for entry-level and early-career roles across relevant industry, start-up, regulatory, or research environments, particularly within medical, industrial, environmental, agricultural, and biosecurity sectors.
