The Master of Health Leadership and Management (MHLM) at UC integrates Health and Business courses to equip you with leadership and management knowledge in health and community settings. Through experiential and research-informed learning you will gain the skills to lead teams, manage complex and resource-constrained environments, and drive innovation and quality improvement across primary, community, and secondary health services.
To apply to the MHLM, you will need to have previously completed any Aotearoa New Zealand bachelor’s degree with a B Grade Point Average or better, or other qualifications of an equivalent standard.
If English is not your first language, you are also required to meet UC's Postgraduate language requirements. See how to provide your English language evidence to UC. If you need help meeting these requirements, or would like to practise your English skills before studying, UC offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) language programmes.
For the full entry requirements, see the Regulations for the Master of Health Leadership and Management or use the admission requirements checker.
You can apply online with myUC.
See Admission and enrolment for all information on enrolling at UC.
The MHLM is made up of a total 180 points, which includes 90 points of compulsory courses in healthcare management, plus a choice between a final work-integrated research project or research dissertation. The remaining points are made up of elective courses in a variety of topics in leadership development.
All courses are taught in person on UC’s campus or Manawa building in the city CBD.
Starting in February or July 2027, the programme will take 1.5 years full-time to complete, or can be studied part-time within 3 years.
