Overview

Postgraduate Certificate in Health Leadership and Management

The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Leadership and Management is designed for health professionals who may be already working in or looking to step into leadership and management roles. You will develop practical skills in leading teams, improving services, and managing change in complex health environments. The programme is delivered in a blended format — combining online study with in-person block days — so you can continue working while you study. A strong emphasis on equity, bicultural practice, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi prepares you to lead effectively across Aotearoa New Zealand's diverse health sector.

Postgraduate Certificate in Health Leadership and Management

  • Develop the capability to lead health service improvement and team-based initiatives.
  • Gain knowledge of leadership and management principles in health contexts.
  • Learn to apply core concepts to professional practice, and how to communicate effectively in organisational settings.
  • Engage with real-world health system challenges through case studies and applied assessments, developing your ability to lead confidently in complex, multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Develop your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and culturally responsive leadership — essential capabilities for leading in Aotearoa New Zealand's health sector.
