Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education
Lead innovation in response to technological and educational change with a Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education degree from UC.
Through the masters in AI and Digital Education you will develop the capacity to evaluate, design, and implement AI-enabled and digitally supported pedagogies, assessments, and learning environments.
By examining advanced theories, research, and practices related to artificial intelligence, digital education, learning design, and technology-enhanced learning you will develop the knowledge and skills to contribute to equitable, inclusive, and socially responsible innovation in education.
Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education
- Engage reflectively with learners and educational communities.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of foundational AI literacy.
- Examine learning design with AI and assessment in digitally mediated environments.
- Reflect on cultural assumptions embedded within technologies and how to design culturally sustaining educational practices.
- An optional independent research project.
Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education
To be accepted into the Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education, you must have qualified for an Aotearoa New Zealand bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification, with at least a B grade average.

Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education
The Master of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education at UC comprises 180 points. This includes 90 points of compulsory courses and 90 points from one of the following options:
- 90 points of elective courses; or
- 90 points of research methods and a dissertation – this pathway is subject to approval by the Programme Coordinator.
Within the 180 points, a minimum of 45 points of Level 9 study is required.
Beginning in February, July, or November, the MAIDE will take up to 1.5 years full-time or up to 4 years part-time to complete.

If you have completed your MAIDE degree through the dissertation pathway with at least a B+ grade average, you may be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
