Supporting your wellbeing

31 July 2025

It’s nearly halfway through the term! It’s okay if life at uni is feeling overwhelming - here's some of the support you can access at UC.

HOW TO APPLY

UC has a wide range of support services available to you while you study, from Te Whare Hauora | Health Centre and Student Care to UCSA welfare and advocacy and accessibility services.

UC also has a variety of activities and events throughout the year to support student wellbeing. Many of these take place in the Living Room, a dedicated wellbeing space open to all students from 9am to 4pm on weekdays. To stay in the loop with wellbeing events and tips, follow the UC Wellbeing Instagram.

Te Whare Hauora | UC Health Centre
The UC Health Centre can help you stay healthy and well while studying. It provides full general practitioner (GP), medical, counselling and related services. Read here for more information about registering for and the services offered by the UC Health Centre.

Atawhai Ākonga | Student Care
Need to talk? Falling behind in your studies? Feeling like it's all a bit of a struggle? Student Care Advisors are your support team. The service is free to access and available to all UC students, including off campus (distance) students. Find more information about Student Care here.

Te Ratonga Whaikaha | Student Accessibility Service
Lots of UC students are living with an accessibility challenge. Student Accessibility Service is here to support you and help you achieve your academic goals. They provide practical study support and can make special arrangements for your tests and exams.

UCSA Advocacy & Welfare Services
Whether you need help with academic issues, flatting challenges, or personal wellbeing, the UCSA Advocacy & Welfare team provides free, confidential support tailored to individual needs. They offer support with everything from dental vouchers and financial assistance to wellbeing events and navigating university systems. Learn more about the support available.

Student Code of Conduct
UC is a community of people committed to creating a campus culture of belonging, understanding, inclusiveness and caring.
Upon enrolment at UC, all students agree to comply with the University’s regulations and policies. If you’re not sure what you’ve agreed to, you should familiarise yourself with the Student Code of Conduct.

The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of Students
The Code supports the wellbeing and safety of all students. It covers topics like physical safety and inclusion, access to advice and support services, physical and mental health support, support for transition into and out of university study, student accommodation requirements, and opportunities for students to have their voices heard. Find more information here.

Harassment and bullying
UC is committed to creating an inclusive and caring community. Harassment and bullying of any kind, whether on or off campus or online, is unacceptable. Harassment and bullying can take different forms, including oral, written, physical, online or other non-verbal forms. You can find more information here.

Sexual Harm
As you navigate your personal life at UC, we want to ensure you know how and when to ask for help. UC has resources to help prevent harmful sexual behaviour, including essential information about bystander intervention, consent and healthy relationships, as well as on and off campus support services if you or someone you know experiences harm. Read more about harmful sexual behaviour here.

How to raise a concern
You can voice a concern, complaint, or grievance, or appeal a decision, without fear of disadvantage. UC has a clear, fair and transparent resolution process. Your discussions remain confidential and no action will be taken without your authorisation. Find more information about raising concerns here.
