With UC’s Postgraduate Certificate in Illustration (PGCertIllust), you can develop your technical and artistic skills across a range of traditional and digital media.
Learn techniques for visual storytelling and narrative to create compelling stories and creative media for industry, from concept art to marketing and more.
This Certificate is particularly suited to professional artists wanting to upskill or train in new illustrative tools, or recent graduates wanting to build a portfolio and enter the creative industry.
To apply for the Postgraduate Certificate in Illustration, you will need to have one of the following from your previous studies:

The PGCertIllust is made up of 60 points (two courses) which you will select from a list of options. These courses include significant practical work, such as producing sketchbooks, portfolios, or visual essays.
Starting in February or July (depending on the courses you choose), you can complete the Certificate within 6 months full-time, or up to 18 months part-time.

2024 SSL: $9.17 per point ($1,100.40 for 120 points)
2025 SSL: $9.72 per point ($1,166.40 for 120 points)
UC also offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Illustration and a Master of Illustration. Both offer more courses than the PGCertIllust such as research projects and internships.
You may choose to transfer your completed courses from the Certificate to the Diploma or Master’s, with approval.
Postgraduate Certificate graduates will be equipped for entry-level roles in creative industries including publishing, illustrating, entertainment, design, digital media, visual storytelling, art directing, or education.
