University Hall (first year, fully-catered)

University Hall offers a supportive and fun environment in your first year of study. With 533 residents, you are bound to meet other residents who are studying the same courses as you, or have similar interests, whether they are sporting, cultural or musical.  The hall offers the flexibility of single-gender or non-alcohol floors.  There are four room options, the older Retro rooms (standard or premium) or the newer Ritz rooms (standard or apartment-style).  Apartments have a 1:3 bathroom ratio and the added bonus of a living room, otherwise students are very much part of the University Hall social and academic community, with meals provided in the Dining Hall.  Each Residential Assistant has a key group of residents to support throughout the first year.  A mix of academic tutorials and an active social programme encourages a healthy work-life balance.

With residents studying a wide range of degrees and with a number of international students, you will gain access to diverse ideas and cultures.  Check out the 2021 Move-In video below.

Statement of Intent

"Living at CLV is more than a room.

Our residents are at the centre of all that we do. We are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive and supportive communities with a unique residential life programme designed to help students live, learn and grow.

Our goal is to provide market leading pastoral care that is aligned with our Tertiary Partners and the wider community. Embracing diversity and the culture of both our Māori and Pacific Island residents and our broader international customers, delivering equity to all.

Our processes are built on transparency and continuous improvement and we ensure regular student feedback and contribution.

Each resident is a unique individual and can expect from CLV, an environment that has clear, reasonable and effective practices, and that aligns with the wider pastoral care of our Tertiary Partners, and the Education (Pastoral Care of Domestic Tertiary Students) Interim Code of Practice 2019 as well as the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016.  The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of Domestic Tertiary and International Learners comes into effect on 1 January 2022."
