Designed for early childhood teachers and early childhood education leaders, UC’s master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Digital Pedagogy looks at leveraging digital tools and resources to enhance the innovation and effectiveness of early childhood teaching and ECE management.
Through compulsory and elective courses, and an optional dissertation pathway, you will gain advanced knowledge of theories, methodologies, bodies of research and pedagogies in early childhood education and digital technologies in education, allowing you to apply this to your own teaching practice to positively impact learners from all backgrounds.

The MECEDP comprises 180 points. This includes 90 points of compulsory courses and 90 points from one of the following options:
Within the 180 points, a minimum of 45 points of Level 9 study is required.

If you have completed your MECEDP degree through the dissertation pathway with at least a B+ grade average, you may be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
With an advanced knowledge of theory, research, and practice in both early childhood education and the use of digital technologies therein, graduates of the Master of Early Childhood Education Digital Pedagogy may seek employment in specialist early childhood education, learning design, or learning support roles.
Graduates may also find opportunities in research settings, early childhood education leadership or education-related organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas.
