Conditions of use for UC field stations
All UC field stations are shared facilities. No individual user or group should expect exclusive use of a field station unless prior arrangements have been made.
While staying at a UC field station, all University of Canterbury policies, procedures, and regulations must be followed.
Accommodation charges are kept to a minimum on the understanding that all users contribute to the cleaning, care, and upkeep of the facilities. Where this expectation is not met, additional cleaning or maintenance charges may apply.
Conditions for minimum length of stay, daytime use and conference functions may apply.
The University reserves the right to amend or cancel bookings if facilities are required for University of Canterbury site-specific activities. Every reasonable effort will be made to avoid cancelling confirmed bookings.
For further information about availability and conditions of use, please contact the Field Services Manager.
Cass and Westport field stations
The Cass and Westport field stations are primarily used to provide accommodation and facilities for University of Canterbury site-specific teaching field courses and research activities undertaken by staff and postgraduate students.
When not required for University of Canterbury teaching or research, the facilities may be available to schools, other educational institutions, and community groups with appropriate educational or natural history interests.
Mt John Observatory, Takapō
