Starting university is an exciting adventure, but it can also feel overwhelming. From getting to know campus to finding your community, there’s a lot to adjust to.
That’s where UC Mentors come in, experienced students who have been through it all and are here to help you feel at home.
UC Mentors are second-year students or above who understand what it’s like to start university.
They can answer your questions, share their experiences, and help you connect with people, places, and opportunities on campus. Whether it’s discovering social groups, finding your favourite spots, or pointing you toward support services, they are here to help you find your place at UC.
Explore support services that may be helpful for you. UC offers a range of initiatives that provide support across areas such as study, careers, and wellbeing, reflecting the diverse experiences of our students.

Become a Student Mentor
10 November 2025
Mentoring is a volunteering role with a small time commitment, but it can make a big impact on new students’ experiences. You’ll also have the chance to develop your leadership and communication skills, while gaining valuable experience for your CV.
Mentors attend UC MAPS sessions to interact with new students in a group setting and may continue the conversation in one-on-one meetings afterward. We onboard new mentors twice a year, at the beginning of Semester 1 and Semester 2. Training is provided before each semester, with ongoing opportunities for development and networking throughout the year.
