Andrew Drummond was born in Nelson and studied at Palmerston North Teachers College and Waterloo University, Ontario, Canada. Drummond has worked with a wide variety of media, and is also well known for his performance art practice during the 1970s and 1980s. He has completed a number of residencies and major public commissions both in New Zealand and overseas. Drummond was Senior Lecturer in Sculpture at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts from 1992 until 2003. He now works full time on public and private sculpture commissions in his Christchurch studio.
