Cybersecurity and Networking

Learn to identify, understand, and mitigate cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities when you study Cybersecurity and Networking at UC. 

Explore the principles and practices of cryptography, operating systems, and network, software, and system security, and gain a foundation for understanding cyber threats, attacks, and relevant defences.

Cybersecurity and Networking

  • Learn to identify security threats, apply secure coding standards, and conduct security-focused penetration testing to prevent software from exposing vulnerabilities.
  • Examine data privacy, governance frameworks, and data sovereignty principles. 
  • Study important internet technologies and protocols. 
  • Develop an advanced understanding of the operation, performance, and scalability of computer protocols. 
  • Study this subject as a major or as a minor in a range of degrees at UC.

Complete the compulsory courses for the Bachelor of Computer Science, along with the following major courses:

Cybersecurity and Networking minor 

For the minor in the Bachelor of Arts, Arts (Specialisations), Commerce, Computer Science, Digital Screen, Health, Product Design, Psychological Science, Science, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Sport, or Youth and Community Leadership, complete the following courses: 

Cybersecurity and Networking

Studying Cybersecurity & Networking may prepare graduates for careers in network administration, cybersecurity, systems architecture, and digital infrastructure protection. 

Problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and ethical reasoning skills developed during the study of Cybersecurity & Networking enable graduates to adapt to emerging technologies, consider leadership roles, or pursue further study.
