Campus tours are scheduled on most Fridays during term time from early April to November. At other times, you are welcome to take a self-guided campus tour. Tours are not available on weekends or Public Holidays.
Come prepared! Good footwear, weather suitable clothing and snacks help for an enjoyable day.
We start at 10am sharp, please make your way to the Matariki quad area, look for our red campus tour signs and walk inside the Puaka James Hight Building to grab a seat.
Please try to arrive at least 5-10 minutes before this.
New to 2026 - Dovedale Campus Tours
We’re excited to introduce our new Dovedale Campus Tours!
Dovedale Campus is home to our Digital Screen degree and is located just a 10-minute walk from our Ilam campus. If you’re planning to study Digital Screen, this is where you’ll be based — and now you can experience it for yourself.
Dovedale Campus Tour Dates (2026)
These special tours will run on the last Friday of selected months, alongside our Halls of Residence tours:

To ensure the best possible experience, numbers are limited to 15 people per tour, with two tours running at the same time (30 visitors total).
Tour Options
When registering, you can choose one of the following:
- Option 1: Dovedale + Ilam Highlights Tour
Perfect for students interested in Digital Screen who would like to see both campuses.
Schedule:
10:00am – Walk to Dovedale Campus
10:25am – Dovedale Campus Tour
11:30am – Ilam Campus Highlights Tour
12:00pm – Lunch break
12:15pm – Accommodation Talk
12:30pm – Travel to first hall
12:45pm – Hall 1
1:30pm – Hall 2
2:15pm – Hall 3
3:00pm – Finish
This option includes a shorter highlights tour of Ilam, followed by our accommodation visits.
- Option 2: Ilam Campus Tour Only
If you’re not studying Digital Screen, you can register for our standard Ilam Campus Tour and Halls of Residence visits. This option does not include Dovedale.
Spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly. We look forward to welcoming you and your whānau to explore both campuses and discover where your future at UC could begin.

Halls of Residence
A visit to the halls of residence can be added to your tour.
- Please click you would 'like to visit the halls of residence' and follow the prompts.
- Each hall of residence tour takes approx 30 minutes to view, and you will need to make your own way to each by the scheduled time.
- We'll give you guidance on the day about the best route to take based on your selections.
We recommend you look at the hall pages, watch the videos and 360 degree panoramas and read the FAQs to get a feel for each hall before you decide which ones to tour.
After 11 September, tours of the Halls of Residence will only be available by individual appointment.
Please contact the Hall(s) of Residence directly if you are interested in visiting on a date a Hall Tour isn't offered.
Self-Guided Campus Tours
Can’t make a scheduled tour date? You are welcome to do your own self-guided tour between 9am and 4pm weekdays. Please note, this does not include the Halls of Residence.
Print your Self-guided Campus Tour Map or collect one from Te Pātaka, the Student Services Hub (Puaka-James Hight building).

School Group Tours
We welcome campus visits from groups of interested secondary school students, however we cannot host visits during busy periods.
If you want to bring a group of students to see where they could study after secondary school, please complete the UC School Visit Request Form to organise a visit for your school.
