Held in the Undercroft at Puaka-James Hight, the annual Expo gave hundreds of students and staff the chance to meet directly with community organisations, learn about their work and discover causes that matched their interests.
Organisations shared a range of opportunities, from one-off projects to ongoing volunteer roles. Alongside making a positive difference, volunteering can help students build practical experience and develop skills valued by employers, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and adaptability.
The Expo offered particular value for students who are new to UC or Ōtautahi Christchurch, including international students looking to meet people, become involved in the community and find meaningful activities outside their studies.
The Volunteering Expo is delivered in collaboration with UC’s Centre for Employability and Career Development, and Volunteering Canterbury.
The event supports UC’s commitment to developing future-ready graduates by connecting learning with practical experience, community participation and purposeful action. It also gives not-for-profit organisations an accessible way to connect with potential volunteers, showcase their work and strengthen their relationships with the UC community.
