If you are only 8 credits (or less) short of UE, you may be able to complete the missing credits over the summer and start your degree courses in Semester One at UC.

Catch-up credits can be completed at Hagley College, or online through Te Kura Correspondence School or Logan Park High School. Your own school may also be an option.

Designed for students who haven't yet achieved UE, this 12-week programme helps you build essential skills for academic success—including time management, clear communication (both written and verbal), and strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Once completed, you can start your degree studies in Semester Two at UC.

If you are 10 credits short of UE, you may be able to take first-year (100-level) degree courses by completing the Diploma in University Preparation at UC in 2026.

The full-year programme offers additional support and orientation to UC services and university life, and can be credited towards most bachelor’s degrees on completion.
