Ranking Your Discipline Preferences

12 May 2026

When applying for entry into the BE(Hons), students must rank all eight engineering disciplines from first to last choice. Ranking all disciplines is important because it allows the faculty to consider you for alternative disciplines if your first choice is full.

HOW TO APPLY

If you are not offered a place in your first‑choice discipline, the faculty will endeavour to offer a place in another discipline, subject to:

  • availability of places
  • eligibility requirements
  • your GPA ranking relative to other applicants.

What If My Preferred Discipline Is Full?

If a discipline is oversubscribed applicants are ranked by their GPA.

Students who do not receive an offer for their first‑choice discipline may still receive an offer for a lower‑ranked preference, provided they are eligible and places are available.
