How HOD Recommendations Are Assessed
HOD recommendations consider a broader range of criteria in addition to GPA. Primary consideration is given to a student’s potential to make an outstanding contribution to the engineering profession.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate at least three of the following attributes, supported by appropriate evidence:
- commitment to and aptitude for engineering
- likelihood of leadership within the profession
- ability to engage effectively with stakeholder communities
- contribution to a balanced and representative engineering workforce.
Evidence may include academic information, work or project experience, leadership activities, community involvement, or other relevant achievements.

Important Things to Understand Before Applying
- HOD recommended entry is not an appeal process.
- It is intended to benefit the profession and workforce, not solely individual career outcomes.
- Only a small number of places are made available through this pathway.
