Offers of Place

12 May 2026

This page explains how and when Offers of Place are made for entry into BE(Hons) disciplines, what you need to do if you receive an offer, and what it means if your application is listed as conditional.

HOW TO APPLY

First Round Offers

When First Round Offers Are Made

Most eligible students will receive a First Round Offer by mid‑December.

First round offers are made after:

  • all applications close
  • GPA rankings are calculated
  • discipline places are allocated based on availability.

Accepting Your Offer

If you receive an offer, you must accept it by the Friday before Semester 1 begins, however, we ask that you accept the offer as soon as possible. By doing so, it does not preclude you from being considered for other disciplines if you have been waitlisted elsewhere.

  • Acceptance instructions will be included with your offer.
  • If an offer is not accepted by the deadline, it will be assumed that the place is no longer required.
  • Places that are declined or not accepted may be reallocated to other applicants.

Students are encouraged to carefully read their offer and respond by the required date.

What Does “Conditional” Mean?

If your application status is listed as conditional (note this will be listed as ‘pending’ in MyUC), no final decision has been made yet. This is common and does not necessarily mean your application has been unsuccessful.

An application may be conditional for one of the following reasons:

Summer School Results Pending

If you are completing Summer School courses as part of your Engineering First Year, your application will remain pending until your final GPA and eligibility can be confirmed.

  • Summer School results from courses listed in Schedule C and Schedule S only are included in GPA calculations.
  • Places are held for students completing Summer School.
  • Offers are made once results are released (typically the Friday before semester 1 starts) and rankings are finalised.

Final rankings yet to be confirmed

  • An unconditional offer cannot be made until the GPA rankings are finalised once summer school results are issued.

Note: If it’s unlikely that you will not be placed in your top three choices, we will endeavour to contact you to explore alternative options. Student Advisors can provide guidance on possible next steps if this occurs.

When Will Conditional Applications Be Finalised?

Conditional applications are assessed on a rolling basis as:

  • places become available
  • Summer School results are released.

Final outcomes are typically confirmed just prior to the start of Semester 1 lectures.

What Should I Do If My Application Is Conditional?

If your application is conditional, you should:

  • monitor your MyUC account and university email
  • ensure your contact details are up to date
  • seek advice if you are unsure about your options or next steps.

We understand that waiting for your conditional offer to be confirmed as an offer of place can feel stressful, and many students find this waiting period challenging. Please know that this is a normal part of the progression process, and you are not alone in feeling this way. The selection process is designed to be fair, transparent, and supportive, and this can inevitably result in some delays in issuing offers.
