About Wuhan

  • As the capital of Hubei Province, Wuhan is a major education and innovation hub with over a million university students. Known for its lakes, green spaces, and historic landmarks, the city offers a lively student lifestyle, modern amenities, and a lower cost of living compared to China’s largest metropolitan centres.
  • Known as the sister city of Christchurch since 2006.

This programme is non-credit bearing and runs for two weeks during the summer (UC’s winter break). Students will choose one of the following courses, each combining professional, practical, and cultural learning experiences.

  • The Development and innovation of Chinese Finance
  • Cutting-Edge Chinese Business and Practices

  • Application fee: 500 RMB (approx. NZ$120)
  • Programme fees (including course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, certain amount of living allowance) will be covered by the partner university.
  • Flights estimation: between $1,700 and $2,000
  • Other personal expenses.

These estimates are based on our own research and projections. The actual cost may vary depending on factors such as when you book, the route you take, your flexibility with dates, and the type of accommodation you choose. We encourage you to conduct your own research for a more tailored estimate.

120 points completed towards the BCom at UC (with a GPA of at least 4.0/B- average).

Your application may be approved if you will meet the points requirement at the end of 2026 S1 assuming you pass all of your 2026 S1 courses, and you currently meet the GPA requirement (this will be looked at, and decided, on a case-by-case basis).

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria above, students must provide a personal statement when applying for the programme, which will be taken into account in determining who is selected to participate in it. There may also be a limit placed on the number of students who can participate.

If there are more applications than places available, the basis of selection will be demonstrated academic achievement in the form of an applicant’s GPA and the quality of the personal statement. Equal consideration will be given to both criteria. Students must also be accepted by the partner institution.

UC Business School CQ Certificate

This is an approved experience under the UC Business School CQ Certificate. Students who complete the experience, as well as meet all other requirements, will receive a UC Business School CQ Certificate.
