So started the tension that drove this defining project.

This talk tells the story from the initial concepts for a safer trampoline, through the early steps in a Bryndwr shed. It covers the developments in final year projects at UC; links with a local company, and a connection with Toronto. It outlines the sale by the University, manufacturing start-up in China, Springfree setting up their own factory in China in 2008, and some of the adventures on the way. It tells, in brief, how to take a product to market, good ways of dealing with IP, and some not so good. And it includes the importance of looking after relationships, which from one perspective is an apt description of what you do in “a company”. By the end, you will have some appreciation of why I have been boldly appearing, without your permission, on your television.
