22 November 2023

Aerospace engineering involves designing, developing, testing, and producing aircraft, spacecraft, as well as related systems and equipment. Find out about completing a minor in Aerospace Engineering.

Bachelor of Engineering with Honours

Aerospace engineering involves the design, development, testing, and production of aircraft, spacecraft, and related systems and equipment.

The Minor in Aerospace Engineering as part of the BE(Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree will provide aspiring students an enhanced pathway to industry by specialisation. This Minor provides a pathway for aspiring students into the Aerospace Engineering sector.

UC offers the only undergraduate Aerospace degree in Aotearoa, giving you early entry into the industry or towards further study at the postgraduate level.

The qualification aims to educate students on the design, development and maintenance of flight vehicles which involves knowledge and skills in Aerodynamics, Material Science, Computational Simulation, Aerostructure Design, Propulsion and Flight Control. Students will be educated in both established and emerging aerospace technologies and processes in the fields of aerospace design, vehicle structural integrity analysis, subsonic and hypersonic flight dynamics, vehicle guidance and stability techniques, aerospace airframe and propulsion systems. Students will be introduced to the impact of the Aerospace industry in New Zealand and worldwide, including contemporary practice.

Students study towards the Minor in Aerospace Engineering alongside Mechanical Engineering in the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours.
