For almost three decades, Victoria has used language education to help students build confidence, broaden their perspectives, and engage meaningfully with other cultures. Her teaching is grounded in authenticity, inclusivity, interaction, stimulation, and reflection, and extends beyond the classroom through initiatives that bring together learners, teachers, schools, and communities.
As Head of the Spanish and Hispanic Studies Programme since 2018, she has combined teaching, leadership, mentoring, and community engagement to create opportunities that promote language learning, intercultural understanding, and bicultural awareness. Through initiatives such as Spanish Immersion Day, the Spanish Dance Video Project, the Latin America & Spain Film Festival, and bilingual Spanish–Te Reo Māori projects, she has fostered lasting connections among learners, educators, cultures, and communities across Aotearoa New Zealand. Throughout her work, she inspires students to recognise their potential, embrace new perspectives, and use language as a bridge for understanding, collaboration, and meaningful engagement in an increasingly interconnected world.
