Since graduating from UC, Tom Scott is enjoying a variety of challenges so far in his legal career. He relishes the idea his work has a tangible effect in getting major projects off the ground.
“I've been involved in things as diverse from the sale of large commercial forestry assets to helping draft construction contracts for skyscrapers. I love the idea that in 10 years’ time I'll be able to point to a building and say, ‘I had a role to play in creating that’".
Originally from Christchurch, Tom now lives in Auckland working as a Senior Associate at Mayne Wetherell, New Zealand’s premier boutique corporate and finance law firm. Mayne Wetherell is one of New Zealand’s premier law firms who advise on significant and complex business transactions, driving successful outcomes for their clients.
“I value being challenged and thrive in an environment where I am pushed to test myself and grow. While I strive to develop a broad legal skill set, I have found myself drawn to corporate advisory and M&A. I enjoy the combination of legal application with the business overlay.”
Tom graduated from Canterbury University with an LLB (Hons) and BCom (Economics). He was a Student mentor for 2 years with the Emerging Leaders Development Program; and an Executive member of the University of Canterbury Law Students' Society (Treasurer - 2014, President - 2015).
