Hannah - Business owner - Bachelor of Fine Arts

Hannah started developing her business skills during her Fine Arts degree at UC, specialising in photography. Now she is the owner of the Corner Store.

At UC, Hannah graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in photography and completed an Honours degree. She also successfully completed two years of the University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Summer Start Up Programme during her postgraduate study. 

"Now being a business owner, taking the University's Centre for Entrepreneurship Summer Start Up Programme two years in a row around my post graduate study prepared me to run a gallery."

"Every day is totally different. I get to meet people on a daily basis and help solve commercial marketing problems with a creative lens."

Clive is the founder and director of Mates Social Media: a creative agency in Christchurch that specialises in social media strategy and content ideation and production. He attributes his success to the opportunities that UC provides "The UC environment more than anything has been huge for my preparation. The people I’ve met and the opportunities that have come out of it is nearly impossible to quantify!" As part of his BA Clive completed a PACE Internship through the College of Arts, this helped to prepare him for the future and "was a good way to get to know Christchurch businesses better and learn in a more practical environment."

Arihia began her UC journey with a goal to ‘build an academic foundation to support my existing practical knowledge and expertise’. Arihia credits the mix of practical and academic work she undertook at UC as being important in furthering her career.
