Overview:
The 22nd annual New Zealand meeting on the interface of mathematics and biology in the study of phylogeny, genome analysis and molecular evolution will be held at Portobello on Otago peninsula. This is a rejuvenated historic village about 30 minutes' drive from downtown Dunedin en route to Taiaroa Head and Otakou marae. Portobello is a convenient location from which to explore all that Otago peninsula - the 'Wildlife Capital of New Zealand' - has to offer. It is home to yellow-eyed penguins, blue penguins and the only human-inhabited mainland colony of royal albatrosses, as well as sea lions and fur seals, to name but a few of the residents. The conference schedule will include visits to local attractions.

Registrant numbers will be capped and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so prompt registration is advised. Registration is now closed; click here.
Payment by credit card can be made at the time of registration. All credit card payments are processed securely through the University of Otago's encrypted Credit Card Gateway system. Please complete registration by Friday 19 Jan.
Late registrations may still be accepted for the last remaining places. Email us.
Changes to your registration, eg additional dinner ticket $60, can be made on request by emailing phylo18@maths.otago.ac.nz. Please do not re-register. Talk abstracts can be uploaded using the link on your registration confirmation email before Wednesday 31 January 2018.
In the event of you having to cancel your registration after payment, please email us immediately. Refunds will generally only be made after the end of the conference for cancellations received before 31 December, and will be subject to an administration fee (normally $50). A partial refund may be possible for cancellations after 1 Jan 2018.
Accommodation:
Otago Peninsula is a popular tourist destination all year round, especially so in summer. It is likely that much of the accommodation close to Portobello will be fully booked at the time of the conference. You are therefore strongly advised to book early.

Bus service:
There is a public bus service from Dunedin CBD to Otago Peninsula, route #18, which costs approximately $6 each way, less if travelling from Macandrew Bay. Buses depart from stand 5 outside New World supermarket on Cumberland St; Portobello 2018 schedule (PDF, 58 KB).
Transport to and from airport:
Portobello is approximately 45km from Dunedin airport and a pre-booked taxi shuttle from the airport to Portobello (one-way) normally costs approximately $50.
Recommendation:
A pre-booked taxi shuttle from Dunedin airport to Dunedin CBD costs approximately $20 (one-way).
