Applications for UC's core doctoral scholarships are now open, and will close 15 May 2026.
The scholarships available in this round are:
- UC Doctoral Scholarship (UCDS)
- UC Matariki Doctoral Scholarship
- UC Pacific Doctoral Scholarship
- UC Doctoral Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
Students may apply for the any of the first three scholarships listed above using the single 'UC Doctoral Scholarship' application form. A separate application form is required for the UC Doctoral Scholarship for Students with Disabilities.
All applicants who submit an application for any of the scholarships above will also be automatically considered for the following prestige and recognition scholarships, which are awarded later in the year. No separate application is required:
- Brownlie Scholarship
- Ngata Centenary Doctoral Scholarship
- Roper Scholarship in Science
- William and Ina Cartwright Scholarship
- Canterbury Scholarship

This application round is for students planning to start their doctoral studies before the end of 2026. Students planning to start in early 2027 are recommended to apply in the October 2026 application round.
