Yesterday, the partnership between the University of Canterbury (UC) and HamiltonJet was formally recognised with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by Tumu Tuarua Rangahau | Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Innovation Professor Lucy Johnston and HamiltonJet Managing Director Ben Reed.
The University and HamiltonJet have had a long-standing relationship, offering industry connections, experience and research opportunities for both staff and students. HamiltonJet has also supported students with graduate roles and by sponsoring several of UC’s student-run Engineering clubs.
This collaboration will include enhancing employment outcomes for UC students even more by providing more work-integrated learning opportunities, internships and employment opportunities, as well as mutually beneficial research opportunities for UC and HamiltonJet.
Professor Johnston says the goal of this MoU is to further develop the existing collaborative relationship between the two organisations.
“This formal strengthening of our long-standing relationship will further grow and support research collaboration and support our students and staff to achieve impactful, locally and globally responsive research,” Professor Johnston says.
In May of this year, 20 academic staff from UC toured the HamiltonJet facilities which has led to working on opportunities for Master and PhD research projects.
