The University of Canterbury Mechanical Engineering Department invites applications for a generously supported PhD opportunity in collaboration with HamiltonJet.
The project will investigate rapid, distributed and cost optimised manufacturing technologies for marine waterjet propulsion components for autonomous craft operating in defence, security and extreme-environment missions.
This project is part of the national Applied Doctorate Scheme (ADS) that aims to boost New Zealand’s economy by bridging the gap between groundbreaking scientific research and industry.

HamiltonJet have generously agreed to offer a "top-up" of NZD $20,000 per annum to the scholarship stipend for this project. This is in addition to the standard ADS stipend of NZD$36,212 for each of 3 years (with a 2% per year increase). Please note that this stipend is tax-free and therefore equivalent to a taxable salary of ~$70k.
