Health Research

Overview

The Health Research minor at UC teaches you how to conduct research on health matters to inform our health services, policies, and campaigns.

We are continuously affected by environmental, economic, social, and cultural factors that change our health and our awareness of healthy practices. Health Research is a critical field to recognise these trends and work towards preventative and responsive care for incoming health issues.

Health Research

Learn the fundamentals of carrying out research, including gathering and interpreting data, producing models and reports, and investigating.
Develop equitable and sensitive methods on gathering private patient health data.
Minor programme available in many UC degrees so you can develop your research skills alongside other interests.

For the minor in the Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Digital Screen, Health, Product Design, Science, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Sport, or Youth and Community Leadership, complete the following courses:

75 points chosen from these courses, with at least 45 points above 100-level

Health Research

Along with general research skills, this minor will make you well prepared on recognising and showcasing issues with community health and services in Aotearoa.

Health information can often be scrutinised with suspicion, controversy, and a lack of cultural awareness, and so your specialised knowledge of presenting research findings will be especially useful in the workforce.
