Abstract
I am a geomorphologist interested in landscape dynamics, and as I am visiting the University of Canterbury for 12 months, I would like to introduce you to my research. My work focuses on investigation of landform change in mountain and glaciated areas in short temporal scales (years to decades). I use an approach that links geomorphological fieldwork with GIS and remote sensing (UAV, satellite, aerial) to map and quantify landscape transformation in different spatial scales. This talk will present a brief overview of previous and ongoing projects I am involved in, including studies on the dynamics of recreational trails degradation in Poland, quantification of ice-cored moraine dynamics in Svalbard, geomorphological effects of glacier lake outburst flood in Greenland, transformation of proglacial areas in Iceland, and impact of mining activity on glacier dynamics in Kirgizstan.
