Wait, what is the Student Services Levy?
Every year, UC students pay a Student Services Levy, often called the SSL. It might not be the most exciting line on your fees statement, but it helps provide a wide range of services students use every day.
The SSL is not unique to UC. It’s a compulsory fee that all New Zealand university students pay. It’s used solely for the benefit of students, helping fund non-academic services that support wellbeing, health, student experience and life on campus.
Your levy in action
Thousands of UC students access SSL-funded services each year. That can include things like:
appointments at the UC Health Centre
access to recreation and fitness through the UC Rec Centre
wellbeing programmes and initiatives such as The Living Room, a dedicated space on campus for students to take time out between classes
support from the Centre for Employability & Career Development
UCSA events, clubs and advocacy
Why your feedback matters
The UCount student survey is one of the easiest ways to help shape what happens next.
By completing the survey, you’re helping UC understand what support students need, where the levy is making a difference, and where services could be improved.
