Get Fresh is our UC Pacific Orientation programme designed to give new to UC Pacific students the best start to their university journey! 

Running over two days, at Get Fresh, you will meet the UC Pacific Development Team, our Pacific Navigators, as well as staff from the wider university. We'll also show you how to navigate UC systems and understand more about the available services on campus. As always, food is provided and there will be activities throughout the day to help familiarise you with the university.

Pacific Welcome Day is a welcome to the University of Canterbury for all first year, and new to UC Pacific students. We also warmly invite your families to attend if they are in Christchurch.

This event is organised by The Pacific Development Team and gives students and their families the opportunity to meet UC Pacific staff and some of our wider Pacific community members. There will also be a presentation to acknowledge those who have received a scholarship for 2026. Dinner will be provided.

UCSA and UC Rainbow are excited to invite you to the Rainbow Welcome Picnic with a free vegetarian lunch!

We’re celebrating all things Rainbow – come along to Haere-roa and enjoy a lunch in the sun! You’ll be able to learn about rainbow clubs, meet new friends, as well as find out more about the support available on campus through UC Rainbow.

This event is open to all students – Rainbow allies and community members alike. Bring your friends! Haere-roa is a welcoming building to everyone, all year around, with gender-neutral bathrooms and accessible spaces.

You are warmly invited to Eke Panuku, UC Māori’s orientation event at the University of Canterbury.

The day will begin with a mihi whakatau, followed by opportunities to meet your Kaiurungi, connect with Māori staff, and build relationships with other Māori students. Finish the day at our mākete with kai, games, prizes, and information stalls.

Whānau are welcome. Please book a ticket for each person attending.

After a packed first day of lectures, it is essential for you international students to wind down and get to interact with fellow students. UCSA loves hosting you all over at Haere-roa and we have the perfect plan to make it happen. No international student event is complete without some yummy treats from across the world.  We are bringing together some of the best food trucks from across Christchurch to feed you and give you the best dinner plan possible on day 1.  UCSA doing what UCSA does best for international community!! 

Christchurch as a city offers a bit of everything to our students. Adventures, historical significance, late night hangouts, nature and more, quite a unique blend. UCSA is offering you the chance to experience a few of these to celebrate the start of your student life. If you are new to Christchurch and you are wondering what the view up top of the Gondola summit is and what the view of the city is from within out trams, this is probably the best bet.
