Kia ora koutou, it is a pleasure to be part of the inclusive whanau here at Student Accessibility Service.

I completed my PhD studies here at the University of Canterbury in 2015, exploring the lived experience of young Muslims at schools in Christchurch, New Zealand, their sensemaking and meaning-making and coping strategies. I also have a MA in Communication Management (University of South Australia), a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers (CIE, UK) and most recently, a Diploma in Whanau Ora (Tipu Ora PTE).

My passion is in education and supporting others to thrive in their learning journey. My practice prioritises an individual’s lived experience and the importance of meaningful engagement. I also have a keen interest in statistics and data mining to understand student’s educational progress and achievements.

I grew up in multi-ethnic and multi-cultural Malaysia and food is a big part of our culture. I am kept busy in my leisure time by my teenage daughter, catching up with friends, reading or checking out cooking and travel videos on social media. I am anaphylactic and struggle with hay fever and dyshidrotic eczema which gives me a good understanding of chronic medical issues.
