UC has a number of students spaces for Pasifika students.

45 Creyke Rd, Ilam Campus

The Pasifika Student House is your place.

Located to the side of Ilam campus, the Pasifika Student House is a student space open to all University of Canterbury students. This space is intended for social, cultural and academic gatherings and is open from 8am to 10pm weekdays. The Pasifika House is a great place to drop in between classes, to meet other Pacific students, check your e-mail, eat your lunch or simply catch up on some reading.

Other resources available in this space for student use include:

  • Computers
  • Fridge
  • Microwave
  • Free coffee, milo and tea
  • Tutorial room with a whiteboard

Parking spaces (limited to 6 spaces only) are also available at 45 Creyke Road - Pasifika Student House. Please note, however, that normal UC Parking regulations/rules apply to these parking spaces outside the Pasifika Student House so make sure that your vehicle displays either, a valid UC parking permit or a UC One-day Parking coupon when you leave it at 45 Creyke Road. Parking coupons and parking permits can be purchased from the University Security Office at 114 Ilam Road.

Room 114a, Business and Law Building

The space occasionally will be used for UC Pasifika Law Students' Society events: such as morning teas, mentoring/tutoring sessions and exec meetings/AGMS, we will also be keeping it open for late night study sessions around exams. However, its most common use will be as a Pasifika student space, where students can find a quiet place to study either on their own or in a group with other Pasifika students who are likely studying law/criminal justice or commerce (as we are in the business and law building, all students are welcome to use the room, we are trying to create a homely type space).

resources in the room include: a whiteboard with pens, tables and chairs, Notes for 200 level laws from an honours student who donated them to us last year, power points for laptop use/charging phones etc

We have an open door policy with the room, so people can come and use it as they please.
