HOW TO APPLY

UC Libraries are now fines-free for borrowing items from our collections. We do still charge for damaged and lost items. This is to encourage fair and equitable use of our information resources and materials.

All invoices must be paid to restore borrowing privileges. Any Library invoices left unpaid after 21 days will incur university sanctions.

Payment can be made by internet banking with the details below:

Account Name: University of Canterbury

Account Number: 01 1839 0036732 00

  • UC staff and students: enter LIBRLOST and your UC username in the reference field
  • External/Subscriber borrowers: enter LIBRLOST and your library barcode in the reference field
More information
  • If you have any queries about lost book fees, email the library staff.
  • Please note we do not accept cash payment.

The Library provides a courtesy notification service reminding borrowers of overdue materials. Failure by the borrower to receive or read the notification does not prevent lost item fees being applied.

Please note that long-term failure to pay lost item fees may result in the debt being sent to UC Financial Services for recovery and further university-wide sanctions.
