General Undergraduate Scholarships

Purpose: To support female students at UC to complete bachelor’s degrees, bachelor’s with honours degrees, and non-thesis postgraduate study. 

Value: Tuition fee support to a value of $4,500 for one year.

Closing date: 31 March

Purpose: To recognise and support top students from the Kuching Division, Sarawak, Malaysia who are studying in an undergraduate degree programme at UC. Specific eligibility criteria applies, check the Regulations for details.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $10,000 for one year

Closing date: 31 October

Purpose: To support students with a vision impairment in undertaking study at UC. Applicants must have a vision impairment of 6/18 or less with both eyes and best possible correction, or less than 20 degrees of vision. 

Value: Each scholarship offers financial assistance at a value of $10,000 per 120 points of enrolment for one year.

Closing date: 31 October

Purpose: Essay Prize - open to current undergraduate students and recent graduates of UC, this prize recognises excellence in English composition. Applicants submit an original piece of writing of their own sole composition, either unpublished or published, which deals imaginatively with any theme: an essay, a short story, a poem or group of poems, or a short play.

Value: First prize = $2,000; Second prize = $1,000; Third prize = $500

Closing date: 30 September

Purpose: To support those directly affected by the 2019 Christchurch Mosque attacks to study at UC, or another accredited education provider.

Value: Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 per 120 points of enrolment.

Closing date: The scholarship is advertised as funds become available.

Purpose: To recognise and support top students from Malaysia who are studying in an undergraduate degree programme at UC. 

Value: Financial assistance to a value of $20,000 

Closing date: 31 October

Details: The scholarship covers fees and provides living expenses for one graduate of UC to study for a University of Oxford One Year Master’s Course Degree, in association with 'preferred college' Christ Church, Oxford.

Value: Course fees and stipend for 9, 10, 11, or 12 months, depending on the length of the Master's Course. Specific amount confirmed in scholarship offer. 

Closing date:  16 December 2029, 2039, and 2049.

Purpose: To support students at UC who have completed at least one academic year at the University and whose earlier youth was spent substantially in Southland and whose parents, or guardian, are resident in Southland at the time of the award.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $1,000 per annum; for two years.
