Arts, Fine Arts & Music Undergraduate Scholarships

Purpose: This scholarship supports students studying in a Fine Arts programme at UC. 

Value: Financial assistance at a value which varies but can be up to $2,500 for one year.

Closing date: 01 November

Purpose: This scholarship supports students of Art History and Theory at UC who have a serious health condition. Specific eligibility criteria applies, check the Regulations for details.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $1,000 for one year.

Closing date: 31 March

Purpose: This scholarship supports students of French at UC who have a serious health condition. Specific eligibility criteria applies, check the Regulations for details.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $1,000 for one year.

Purpose: This scholarship supports students studying in classical literature at UC. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate Greek and Latin course.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $2,500 for one year

Closing date: 31 October

Purpose: This scholarship supports undergraduate and postgraduate honours students at UC who have an interest in the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand. Applicants would be majoring in Economics, Engineering, Science, or other subjects of relevance to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year.

Closing date: 31 March

Purpose: This scholarship assists and encourages students enrolled full-time in a Music programme of study at UC, towards a career in music.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $10,000 for one year (initially paid towards tuition fees).

Closing date: 01 November

Purpose: To reward the academic achievement of full-time students about to enter the final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Fine Arts at UC.

Value: Tuition fees at the domestic rate, for one year.

Closing date: 31 October

Purpose: To support and encourage excellence within students studying in their final year of a BFA, BFA(Hons) or an MFA at UC. Applicants for the award will need to include a submission of recent sculptural work and proposal for work to be undertaken for that year.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 for one year.

Closing date: Applications must be made to the Senior Lecturer in Sculpture early in Term 1 in the year of the award.

Purpose: To recognise the academic achievement of final year Economics or Finance undergraduate students studying in subjects based on pure and applied mathematics. 

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 per annum for up to two years.

Closing date: 31 March

Purpose: Supports travel to Japan, to enable the holder to advance their study of and acquaintance with the culture and people of Japan. Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled at UC in one or more 200- or 300-level courses in Japanese language; and may not have previously lived in Japan.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $2,000 for one year.

Closing date: 31 March

Purpose: To support Māori and Pacific students who are studying towards an Indigenous Narrative minor in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours at UC. Applicants must be enrolling in TAKI101 in the year of tenure.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $3,000 for one year.

Closing date: 31 January

Purpose: To recognise and support high-achieving 200-, 300-, or 400-level students majoring in Applied Data Science, Computational and Applied Mathematical Sciences, Data Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics at UC.  

Value: Financial assistance at the value of: (a) $5,000 (Category A awards); (b) $2,500 (Category B awards); (c) $1,000 (Category C awards)

Closing date: 31 March - This scholarship is not available for 2025
