Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
Prepare to make a difference in the lives of multilingual learners with a postgraduate qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from UC.
Our TESOL programmes prepare educators to work with learners of all ages and from diverse linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds in New Zealand and around the world. Combining research-informed theory with practical application, students develop expertise in language acquisition, language teaching and learning, multilingual education, and culturally responsive practice.
Students critically engage with contemporary issues in language education, policy, and practice, and explore the relationships between language, culture, identity, and learning in local and global contexts. Students develop specialised knowledge and skills to design, implement, and evaluate language learning experiences, curricula, and assessment practices across diverse language education in both digital and traditional learning environments.
Graduates are well equipped to work in schools, tertiary institutions, language programmes, community settings, and international education environments, as well as pursue advanced study and leadership opportunities in language education.
