Meet Ms Kay-Lee Jones from Teacher Education who received her national award for Sustained Excellence in Tertiary Teaching – Kaupapa Māori category in September 2020.

Meet Dr Heather Purdie from the School of Earth and Environment. She received her national award for sustained excellence in tertiary teaching in October 2019. 

Meet Dr Masa Ogino from the School of Language, Social, and Political Sciences. He received his national award for sustained excellence in tertiary teaching in October 2019.

Meet Associate Professor Ekant Veer from UC's School of Marketing, Management & Entrepreneurship. He received his national award for sustained excellence in tertiary teaching in September 2018.

Meet Associate Professor Ben Kennedy from UC's Department of Geological Sciences who received his award in August 2017. This was a double celebration alongside Professor Ursula Cheer, the first time UC has achieved two sustained excellence awards in one ceremony. 

Meet Charles Fleischmann from UC's department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering. He is an internationally recognised engineering educator who won a National Teaching Excellence Award in 2015. 

Meet Professor Angus Hikairo Macfarlane from UC's School of Teacher Education. He is the our first winner in the Kaupapa Māori category. The award recognised his contribution and commitment to the professional advancement of kaupapa Māori imperatives for pre-service and in-service teacher education.

Meet Herb de Vries from UC's Department of Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He was recognised alongside Professor Angus Hikairo Macfarlane in 2015, as UC scored its first double success in the national tertiary teaching awards competition.

Meet Dr Rua Murray, a senior lecturer from UC's School of Mathematics and Statistics. He has been recognised as one of New Zealand’s top tertiary teachers and has received an Ako Aotearoa national tertiary teaching excellence award.

Meet senior teaching fellow Stephen Hickson from UC's Department of Economics and Finance who has been recognised as one of New Zealand’s top tertiary teachers. He received one of 12 Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards during a ceremony held at Parliament. 

Meet Associate Professor Jon Harding from UC's Department of Biological Sciences. He was recognised as one of the top ten university teachers in New Zealand in 2011 and received a Tertiary Teaching Excellence award. 

Meet Associate Professor Emily Parker from UC's Biomolecular Interaction Centre. She has been recognised as one of the country's top tertiary teachers and was one of 11 teachers awarded a Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award in 2010.

Meet Professor Eric Pawson, lecturer at UC's Department of Geography who has been recognised as one of New Zealand’s top tertiary teachers. He was one of ten teachers awarded a Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award in July 2009.

Meet Associate Professor Angus McIntosh from UC's Department of Biological Sciences. He was one of 10 teachers awarded a Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award during a ceremony held at Parliament in June 2007.

Meet Roger Nokes, Senior Lecturer at UC's Department of Civil Engineering. He received a prestigious Sustained Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006 from Ako Aotearoa: The National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence.

Meet Juliet Gerrard from UC's Department of Biological Sciences who received a Sustained Excellence Prize at the Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards in 2004.

Meet Tim Bell, senior lecturer and Head of Department of Computer Science at UC. He was recognised for his sustained excellence in teaching with one of the first ever Ako Aotearoa National Tertiary Teaching Excellence awards in 2002.
