These legacy gifts are investments in the future, like planting trees whose shade future generations will enjoy. They strengthen UC’s foundation, ensuring the University remains a leader in shaping Canterbury, New Zealand, and beyond.
One of the most inspiring legacy gifts was from John ‘Jack’ Angus Erskine, a distinguished alum whose 1963 bequest created the renowned Erskine Programme. This initiative brings leading international scholars to Christchurch and enables UC academics and students to engage in global knowledge exchange. Such farsighted contributions create opportunities that ripple through generations, making an impact on countless numbers of students and enriching our wider communities
Legacy gifts embody the transformative power of hope and generosity, shaping a brighter, more connected future for generations to come.
