Checklist for international students

Log in to myUC and accept your Offer of Place. Add your emergency contact details, any learning needs you have, and select your courses. Upload a copy of your passport and visa in your Document Library.

Apply for your student visa about four months before your intended arrival/course start date.

Book flights to Christchurch that give you enough time before lectures start to complete your enrolment, familiarise yourself with the UC campus, and set yourself up in your accommodation.

It's best to organise your accommodation before you travel to Christchurch. Several options are available.

Find other students studying the same programme as you and join groups of students who share similar hobbies and interests. Follow the link provided to you in an email from UC to join.

Book a session for when you have arrived in Christchurch before lectures begin, to complete your enrolment in person.

Note you will need to take your passport and visa with you when you attend your session.

Attendance is compulsory for all new international students at UC.

Review the insurance requirements for international students. If you don't want to purchase the default Studentsafe Inbound University Policy, you must purchase an approved alternative policy instead. If your policy is not listed on the approved list, you will need to apply to have your policy assessed at least four weeks before your Enrolment in Person session.

ANZ, Westpac, BNZ and ASB all have branches close to campus. Open a NZ bank account and transfer money before you arrive in Christchurch.
