Permaculture and organic
Permaculture, meaning "permanent agriculture", is the design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems that have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. Permaculture is a way of living and gardening designed to meets people’s needs while at the same time being in harmony with nature.
Organic growing is about working with natural systems, with a specific focus on soil health and management. By creating healthy soil, we can produce healthy food and this leads to healthier lives. Working with natural systems rather than trying to dominate them involves avoiding the use of synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers. Instead, organic growers embrace cultural, mechanical, and biological methods. Organic growing systems seek to enhance biological diversity, add to long-term soil fertility, conserve and recycle nutrients, encourage and enhance biological cycles, promote efficient use of water, and promote positive care of the environment.
