UC provides email service to all students and staff. For students (inc postgraduates) your UC email address is the main email account for sending UC Communications.
Undergraduate student email is provided using Microsoft's cloud service Office 365.

Accessing your email via a browser
You can check your email through the Office 365 web interface by entering your email address and password.
Access your email on a iOS device
You can use a mobile device (iOS and Andriod) to send and receive emails from your student email account.
Setup on iOS
Go to your iPhone or iPad's Settings > scroll down and tap Accounts & Passwords > Add Account.
If you're on iOS 10, go to Mail > Accounts >Add Account.
Select Exchange.
Enter your mail address and a description of your account. Tap Next.
Tap Sign In.
Enter the password associated with your email account. Tap Sign in or Next.
The Mail app may request certain permissions. Tap Accept.
Choose the services you want to sync with your iOS device and tap Save. You're done!
The following settings may be required to set up your account on your mobile device:
Access your email on an Android device
Android mail apps may look different across different devices, and these directions may not exactly match the options you see. Use these steps as a guide or consult the manufacturer's help for your particular device.
From the Settings menu, select Accounts > select Microsoft Exchange Active Sync > Enter your email address and password

Using another email address
If you prefer to use a different email address to the one provided by UC, you can use the “forward” rule in Office 365 or you can redirect messages to another email account.

The address format for postgraduates is firstname.lastname@pg.canterbury.ac.nz and is this will be the main email account for UC communication.
The address format for staff is firstname.lastname@canterbury.ac.nz.

Accessing your email via a browser
Postgraduates (and staff from off campus) can access their email through the Outlook Web App using a browser here.
Staff can access their email via Outlook which will be installed on their assigned computer.
Mailbox size and limits
Mailbox quota
The standard quota for all UC provided mailboxes is 2GB. If you believe need an increase in your mailbox size (quota), please log a ticket here.
Email attachment limits
The maximum size limit for email attachments to internal recipients is 40MB, the size limit for attachments to external recipients is 27MB.
Get email on your mobile device
You can use a mobile device to send and receive emails from your student email account.

The following settings maybe required to set up your account on your mobile device:
N.B. If you're experiencing issues connecting to the Exchange Server, you may need to enter the Domain as UOCNT\ followed by your username in capital letters e.g. ABC12
Spam Filter
You can manage the spam filter for your @pg.canterbury.ac.nz or @canterbury email account by logging into the Anti-Spam Gateway. Please check below document on how Precise Mail work.
