Pallot Memorial Lecture

The Pallot Memorial Lecture was instituted in honour of June Pallot, Professor of Accounting at Canterbury University from 1997-2004. Professor Pallot was one of New Zealand’s leading accountancy academics and an internationally acknowledged expert in the field of public sector accounting.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, she had a long-standing involvement in setting accounting standards for the public sector through her membership of the Public Sector Accounting Committee, Financial Reporting Committee, Financial Reporting Standards Board and Society of Local Government Managers.

Professor Pallot held a variety of public sector positions including the Telecom Establishment Board (1986-1991), and a secondment to the Audit Office as Assistant Auditor General where she was responsible for accounting and financial management policy (1993-1995).
Professor Pallot undertook research on behalf of a diverse range of organisations throughout the world, from the Commonwealth Secretariat to Stockholm Centre for Organisational Research.

This lecture series brings leading academics and accounting professionals to Canterbury to provide a public lecture highlighting their recent work and its relevance to business and industry.
