This collaborative project aims to address the technical challenges associated with managing satellite launch vibration loads using emerging advanced manufacturing techniques. Vibration loads are often the dominating mechanical load that drives the final design of satellite components/structures. During launch, significant loads are transferred from the launch vehicle to the payload which if insufficiently designed for can lead to critical failures, reliability issues and reduced payload capacity. The University of Canterbury in collaboration with Dawn Aerospace, a leading innovator in space transportation, will contribute academic expertise and industry support to address this issue and enable the development of novel dampening solutions to be integrated into in-space propulsion systems.
