Manaaki Scholarships are offered by the New Zealand Government to build future leaders in developing countries. Full scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate study, depending on your home country.

Manaaki Scholarship Applicants update 17 March 2026
Thank you for your interest in studying at the University of Canterbury with a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship.
We have been advised that there are issues with the Manaaki online portal and not all courses have appeared on the selection list. If you cannot find your preferred University of Canterbury study option, you can reach out to us to help on manaakinzscholarships@canterbury.ac.nz.
You can selecet a similar qualification at the University of Canterbury in the same subject area and level (ie Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or PhD) and attach a note to your application explaining that your preferred programme was not available in the selection list at UC.
If you are selected as a preferred candidate for the Manaaki scholarship, we can request a course change to your preferred programme, so long as it is still aligned to your country's priority areas.
