The Christchurch Conference on International and Transnational Legal Frameworks (CCITLF) 2026 Call for Abstracts is now open.

The  Conference, hosted by Te Whare Wanānga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury, New Zealand  brings together the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) — the three international and intergovernmental institutions that provide the core legal frameworks facilitating cross-border transactions and legal cooperation — along with a  selection of leading thinkers and practitioners from around the world in a wide range of international and transnational legal domains.

Under the overarching themes of Dispute Resolution and Private Law in an Interconnected World this conference seeks to explore a diversity of topics:

  • Recent work of the C.I.S.G. Advisory Council
  • Conflict of Rules and Bodies in International Arbitration
  • Use of A.D.R. Mechanisms in International Disputes
  • Emerging Issues in International Business Law
  • Jurisdictional Issues in Cross-Border Commercial Disputes
  • Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments and Arbitral Awards
  • Cross-Border Insolvency in Australasia and the Pacific
  • Electronic Commerce and Digitisation of International Trade and Business
  • Cross-Border Disputes over Cryptocurrency, Non-Fungible Tokens, and Digital Assets
  • Artificial Intelligence in the Practice of Private International Law
  • Trade in Agriculture in the New Protectionist World
  • Balancing Competing Interests in Marine & Fisheries Conservation and Law
  • Private Disputes and Legal Issues in Agricultural and Fisheries Trade
  • Balancing Commercial and State Interests in Investor-State Disputes
  • Resolving Cross-Border Family Law Disputes
  • Legal Issues in International Surrogacy and Adoption
  • Modern Slavery in International Supply Chains

 

We invite scholars, practitioners, judges and government officials who are interested in presenting a paper in-person at the Conference to submit an abstract proposal.

CCITLF 2026 will cover a wide range of international and transnational legal issues and we welcome a variety of abstracts drawing on diverse knowledge-bases.

We welcome contributions from participants all over the world, and particularly, but not limited, to those in the Oceania and Pacific regions.

CCITLF 2026 is an in-person event.

Instructions for submissions

The submitted abstract should be no longer than 300 words.

Please include:

  • Name, affiliation, and brief bio (maximum 100 words).
  • Email address for contact.
  • Title.
  • Abstract (maximum 300 words).
