Master of Engineering Management (On Campus)
UC’s Master of Engineering Management is now available via a full-time flipped classroom study model.
Globally Relevant, Locally Grounded
UC’s on-campus Master of Engineering Management (MEM) is designed for engineering graduates and professionals who want to lead in today’s complex, technology-driven world.
This 180-credit programme combines technical depth with advanced management and leadership skills, aligned with the IEEE TEMS Body of Knowledge (TEMS BOK) – a global benchmark in engineering and technology management.
You’ll be based full-time at our Christchurch campus, and your core learning will take place through readings, videos, and digital resources. This gives you the flexibility to move at your own pace or revisit topics when needed, and allows interactions with your peers including face-to-face tutorials that bring the material to life through discussion, problem solving, and collaborative projects.
Here’s what you can expect
- A dedicated study room on campus, reserved for MEM students (open 40 hours a week).
- Study side-by-side with classmates, at your own pace.
- Weekly facilitated sessions to deepen understanding and apply concepts in real-world contexts.
- In-person assessments (presentations, oral exams, invigilated tests).
Work-integrated learning
All UC MEM students complete at least 100 hours of supervised industry experience through the Work-Integrated Learning component.
UC has strong industry connections in Canterbury and across New Zealand, and will do its best to assist students in securing valuable work-based opportunities. These experiences help you apply classroom knowledge in practice and build a portfolio of professional achievements.
Additional support for international learners
- A 12-week Academic English course is available during Terms 1 and 2 of the MEM (and will be compulsory only if you are identified as requiring it).
- Access to UC’s full range of student services.
- Participation in the UCSA mentorship programme, specially designed to support international learners.
The MEM is delivered across nine-week terms (including a one-week study break), with two courses per term. You’ll start learning in February 2026, and complete your Master’s degree in June 2027.
