On 26 June, the team marked the milestone with an evening of talks and lab visits with around 85 guests, of which around 75% were industry partners from around New Zealand and Australia.
Speakers included founding Director Pat Bodger, second Director Joseph Lawrence, Transpower Board Chair Keith Turner, EEA Chief Executive Peter Berry, EPECentre and Aruhiko PEET Board Chair Nikki Newham and current Director Hamish Avery.
A central theme of the talks was the need for a greater diversity of skills as we face our energy transition. Hamish discussed the planned future direction of EPECentre, the recent growth in collaborators and affiliates across the wider transdisciplinary energy space, and the increasing relevance of EPECentre as we look towards 2050.
It was entertaining and thought provoking to hear the different perspectives, and very encouraging to hear from a diversity of viewpoints that the mission of both Aruhiko PEET and EPECentre are as relevant as ever.
The event was rounded off with drinks and nibbles, and tours of the Electrical and Computer Engineering labs and High Voltage lab with presentations by the researchers. Thank you to all those to attended and supported the event!
