$150,000 for rugby collisions and human digital twins

28 May 2024

Two researchers from Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC) have been awarded Health Research Council (HRC) Explorer Grants to continue their ground-breaking research.

HOW TO APPLY

Associate Professor Arindam Basu has been awarded $150,000 for the development and validation of a model for the preventative management of Type-2 diabetes in the form of a human digital twin. This digital twin will be able to provide the user with real-time health data to help manage their health at an individual level. Read more about it here.

The second $150,000 HRC grant will be used by Professor Nick Draper to tackle the lack of data in junior rugby player collisions. The funding will expand Professor Draper’s research data to a wider group and age range of players. Read more about the research here
